Heritage Projects involving Large Restorations or repairs from water damage etc. Projects that I have undertaken work on are:

Ayers House

The processes involved in working at Ayers house.

Firstly after layers of paint had been removed layer by layer from patches within all of the rooms to reveal the original artwork that were there. We then were able to cut our own stencils out according to the patterns, then carefully eye match all of the original colours. We are then able to piece the room back to their original state in the 1860's. After stenciling the main pattern, everything is meticulously hand painted to give the stencils relive and bring them to life with dark and light to create the look of embossed or embellishment. Also larges amounts of Gold Leaf have been used within the building.

Here are some samples:

This is a photo of the sitting room when we first started, with some of the plaster repairs due to the salt damp. Also showing are some of the original patches of Artwork revealed to enable us to re-produce the whole room.

Here are some shots of finished work in the Sitting Room:

Ceiling and Freeze in progress.

Artwork revealed from under the layers.

Finished product, joining into the original sample.

Original sample found in the ballroom at chair-rail height.

Finished product from sample. Note: The amount of lines both sides of the stencil to give the impressions of mouldings and to extend the artwork. All hand painted and colours eye matched.

Synagogue
- Hong Kong

Whilst working with Clive Holden, we were asked to restore the inside and outside of this Historic Jewish Synagogue. It was a challenging job, but very rewarding once finished. The completion time took two months for five trade's people.

The before shot prior to restoration.

The Finished Result of the interior of the Synagogue. Note: The Trompe L'oeil panels on the ceiling and ornate decorative work throughout and the attention to detail including some of the furniture.

This was the condition of the building prior to refurbishment. Also using a German Product called 'Khime' - a unique water-based system that only works and reacts on the bare surfaces of render or porous cement.

Para Para

I was asked to repair and restore the ceiling and the end wall due to water damage.

All surfaces in these photos are hand painted and put back to its original state using the guide from the original work and from undamaged wall.

This is a 7 inch band of original Gold Leaf with the original Art work on top. As you can see from the water damage, after scraping any loose material off carefully this is what I had left to repair. As you can appreciate every 2cm x 2cm square that comes off translate back to about 4 hours work minimum, to put it back to its original state.

Repaired Background prior to doing Artwork.

First stage of stenciling and hand painted relief.

Final Finish of Gold Leaf and Artwork.
